    Gearing up for the harvest

We are getting ready for our 2nd annual Apple Party!!

What is an apple party you ask?  Well, Its what we call our little apple harvest gathering.

We just called it an Apple Party last year, and it stuck.

Here are some photos from last year:

My daughter is a talented artist, and that comes in very handy 😉

The day was very chilly and overcast.  My daughter, who is an actual photographer, was shooting a wedding that day and so I did not have any pictures other than the ones on my iphone.

Do you enjoy apple picking in the fall?

We have gone to the same place for 16 years! And, now, we have our very own orchard and we hope our friends and families will visit us for many years to come.

Our trees are over 30 years old, that means they are great for climbing!

    DONUTS!!!

Golf cart rides. Always a hit!

My family really enjoyed the recipe testing.

There were apple muffins, apple pie, apple cider donuts, apple butter, and even a vegan caramel sauce!

(I gave in and bought donuts after this recipe test, we needed a few dozen. Homemade apple pie was a priority)

We have 3 different kinds of apples on our farm.  This is the only variety of apples we are able to identify.  Red delicious.  This tree is probably about 15 years old.  Red delicious are classic, but not a favorite.  We enjoy the apples with crisp, tart flavor that are great for eating and baking.

This has been a bad year for our apples.  We are not sure why.  After 4 years of owning apple trees, I haven’t learned enough to determine much of anything, lol.  We are still having a harvest party, it will just be more of a fall festival 😉

    Thanks for stopping by!
